At a glance

Bonnie Jennifer had built a loyal customer base through in-person sales, but the pandemic exposed the limitations of its digital presence. I helped lead a broader brand and digital transformation, coordinating a refreshed visual identity, e-commerce relaunch, and digital marketing initiatives to strengthen the brand’s online presence and create new opportunities for growth.

The project

Bonnie Jennifer is an independent jewelry brand known for its signature gold-filled beaded jewelry and personalized designs. Built around the founder’s creative vision and longstanding customer relationships, the business had established a loyal following through in-person events and direct customer engagement.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted those sales channels, the business experienced a significant decline in revenue. With much of its success dependent on physical retail experiences, the brand needed to establish a stronger digital presence and develop new ways to reach and convert customers online.

I worked with Bonnie Jennifer on a comprehensive brand and digital transformation, helping guide its rebranding, e-commerce relaunch, and digital marketing strategy to support the business’s transition into a more digitally enabled retail model.

The challenge

Rebuilding a business that had relied on in-person sales

Before the pandemic, Bonnie Jennifer had built much of its business through personal relationships and in-person selling. That approach had helped establish a loyal customer base, but it also left the business heavily exposed when those opportunities disappeared.

The brand lost nearly 90% of its business during the pandemic, revealing significant gaps in its digital infrastructure.

Its existing website was outdated, the e-commerce platform had limited capabilities, and its online presence lacked the consistency needed to compete in an increasingly crowded jewelry market.

There was also little infrastructure supporting email marketing or the customer journey beyond an initial purchase.

The business needed to translate the appeal of its products and the relationships it had built offline into a digital experience that could reach customers independently of the founder’s physical presence.

The approach

Bringing the brand and its digital experience up to speed

The engagement began with a comprehensive review of Bonnie Jennifer’s existing brand, website, and marketing channels. From there, we developed a coordinated approach to modernizing its identity and improving how the business operated online.

Brand development and creative direction

Following the initial audit, I worked alongside a boutique branding studio to develop a refreshed visual identity that better reflected Bonnie Jennifer’s products, values, and intended market position. The process included brand discovery, visual research, moodboarding, color palette development, and the creation of updated logos and supporting brand assets.

I also helped guide the creative direction for product and lifestyle photography, ensuring the new identity carried through to the brand’s marketing materials and customer-facing experience.

E-commerce transformation

The website relaunch involved restructuring the existing online store and migrating to a more suitable e-commerce platform. We refined the website’s visual presentation, introduced customized functionality, and developed new product imagery and supporting graphics to improve how customers discovered and evaluated the jewelry. The objective was to create a more cohesive shopping experience that could support online sales and better communicate the value of the brand’s products.

Digital marketing and customer engagement

Alongside the brand and website work, I helped develop the business’s organic digital marketing strategy.

This included overseeing social media planning, coordinating content calendars, and establishing a more consistent approach to communicating with customers online. We also migrated the brand’s email contacts to a more capable marketing platform, creating better opportunities for customer communication, performance tracking, and future retention initiatives.

Together, these efforts helped establish a more connected digital presence across the brand’s website, social channels, and email marketing.

The results

Rebuilding the brand’s digital presence translated into measurable growth

Following the brand refresh, e-commerce relaunch, and implementation of a more coordinated digital marketing strategy, Bonnie Jennifer experienced significant improvements in online performance.

Within the first six months, total sales increased by 39% and online store sessions grew by 305%. The website’s conversion rate also improved from 0.97% to 2.17%, indicating that a greater proportion of visitors were completing purchases.

Email marketing performance improved as well, with open rates increasing from 42.6% to 56.3% and click-through rates rising from 1.07% to 3.49%.

Beyond the performance improvements, the refreshed digital presence helped support new collaborations and press opportunities, extending the brand’s reach beyond its established in-person customer base.
